Peterson has been in law practice over 18 years with an emphasis on
public utility regulatory law. Ed's accomplishments include:
Ed took his law degree at Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1979. Since then he has served as Assistant General Counsel for the Kansas Corporation Commission (1980-1984), serving as Special Counsel to this three-member Commission on legal matters with particular attention to federal and state rate proceedings in electric and gas. While serving as Assistant General Counsel, Ed also conducted special investigative initiatives of the Commission. Ed is deeply involved in his community. He has served as Mayor of the City of Fairway, Kansas, having first been elected to that position in 1993. In November, 2002, Ed was elected, and in 2006 was reelected as a Johnson County Commissioner. Ed's leadership is recognized by regional mayors, and he has served as Chairman of the Johnson/Wyandotte Counties' Council of Mayors. Ed also serves on the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation Board of Directors and attends Old Mission United Methodist Church were he serves as Chairman of the Old Mission Child Care Board of Directors. Ed also is a member of the Advisory Board of Arts and Humanities Council of Johnson County and the Johnson County Visioning Committee. Ed is a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bars, and the bars of several federal courts. Ed also chairs the Administrative Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association. |
